Israel is expanding its illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. It has grabbed more Palestinian land, killed hundreds of Palestinians and forced at least 40,000 from their homes – alongside its 17-month genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Israel is destroying Palestinian homes and livelihoods to make way for its illegal settlements – which now cover 40% of the West Bank.
By moving in Jewish people – whether from Israel or elsewhere – to live in settlements on Palestinian land, Israel is expanding its settler-colonial project. 700,000 settlers now illegally live on occupied Palestinian land.
The Israeli military facilitates violent attacks on Palestinian communities by illegal settlers, while Israel arrests thousands of Palestinians living close to its illegal settlements – and then unjustly imprisons and tortures them.
Israel invaded the West Bank in 1967 and has illegally occupied this Palestinian land ever since. It is forcing out Palestinians and transferring settlers in, while subjecting Palestinians everywhere to apartheid – to a separate legal system, based on racial discrimination, while depriving Palestinians of their rights. All of this is illegal under international law.
The UK government says that Israel should stop expanding its illegal settlements yet allows Israeli settlement imports into the UK – and let £74 billion flow to businesses involved in illegal settlements between 2021-24.
