UK-Israel trade is supporting Israel’s illegal occupation and genocide of Palestinians. The UK government’s proposed settlement trade ban is a step towards ending UK complicity in Israel’s crimes – but not enough. The UK must end its trade deal with Israel.
UK-Israel trade was worth £6 billion in 2025. The settlement trade ban would stop only an estimated 0.63% of this (£38 million), which comes from Israel’s illegal settlements on Palestinian land.
After three years of Israel’s genocide, where Israel has killed over 74,000 Palestinians – and is still attacking Palestinians in the Gaza Strip almost daily – the UK government finally seems willing to hold Israel to account.
If the government really wants the UK to be a country that “stands up for what is right”, it needs to take action against the fundamental problem – Israel’s 59-year illegal occupation of Palestine – not just the illegal settlements.
We need actions, not words, from the UK government.
The UK must end the UK-Israel trade deal, so no more UK money is funding Israel’s illegal occupation, apartheid and genocide of Palestinians.
