Road to COP31: Building internationalist climate justice

πŸŽ™οΈ Hosted by War on Want, Climate Justice Coalition, Friends of the Earth and Christian Aid

Reflecting on the road from COP30, through Santa Marta and Bonn, and into London Climate Action Week, this event will bring together organisers and movement leaders to discuss the key struggles, opportunities and strategic interventions shaping climate justice this year.

How do we ensure our lens is internationalist and rooted in solidarity with frontline struggles? What can we learn from the People’s Summit as a radical movement-of-movements initiative? And how do we build collective power capable of confronting climate breakdown as we move towards COP31?

We’ll be joined by Maureen Santos, political scientist, ecologist and coordinator of FASE’s Policy and Alternatives Unit, who has worked for two decades on popular education, network-building, trade, regional integration, environment and climate justice, and has followed UNFCCC negotiations since 2008.

We’ll also be joined by Francisco Kelvim from the Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB), a Brazilian social movement with a 35-year history of defending communities affected by dams and large-scale development projects. Francisco is part of MAB’s national coordination, leads its work on international cooperation, and is currently researching just transition processes.

Join us for an evening of collective reflection, political discussion and movement strategy as we prepare for the next phase of climate justice organising in the UK and internationally.
