The UK government has just approved the destructive Jackdaw gas field – further fuelling the climate crisis and our dependence on fossil fuels. Yet ministers are still considering approving Rosebank, an oil field with even greater climate impacts. Tell your MP to #StopRosebank oil field now.
The Rosebank oil field would lock the UK into decades of drilling for fossil fuels and, over its lifetime, release more climate pollution than the annual CO₂ emissions of the 73 lowest-emitting countries and territories combined. People want a different future: a clean energy system that reduces our bills and protects the planet, instead of boosting corporate profits, and a future where workers and communities are supported. Rosebank represents the opposite.
This isn’t just a climate issue. If the UK approves Rosebank, it’s expected to send over £200 million to the Delek Group – one of Israel’s biggest oil companies and majority shareholder in Ithaca Energy, which holds a stake in Rosebank. Delek operates in illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and supplies fuel to the Israeli military. Approving Rosebank would undermine the government’s recently announced plans to ban settlement goods and target companies profiting from illegal settlements. The UK government should not approve a project that risks fuelling Israel’s genocide and oppression of the Palestinian people.
Right now, many people in the UK are approaching winter struggling to pay soaring heating and fuel bills. Ordinary people in the UK and people in Global South countries – who have done the least to cause the climate crisis – are losing homes to floods, facing drought and hunger. We need affordable, clean energy – not more fossil fuels.
The UK government has approved Jackdaw, but Rosebank can still be stopped. That means political pressure matters now more than ever. Your MP represents you – and they still have the power to influence whether Rosebank is approved or rejected.
Tell your MP to reject Rosebank and stand for climate justice and human rights.
